Anne Dorrance
Job Description
Anne Dorrance, PhD, is chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. She is also the co-director of an NIH-funded Integrative Pharmacological Sciences Training Program and has a keen interest in developing the mentoring skills of both faculty and students.
Dr. Dorrance’s research focuses on the effects of hypertension and obesity on the cerebral vasculature, with a particular interest in how vascular dysfunction contributes to the development and exacerbation of dementia. Her research is currently funded by the NIH, and she has been funded by the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association in the past.
Dr. Dorrance completed her Ph.D. at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, and her post-doctoral training at the University of Michigan and the Medical College of Georgia. She is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and an active member of the American Physiological Society. She currently serves as the secretary/treasurer for the Cardiovascular Section of the American Physiological Society.
